Why should we in Wales care about tropical forests?
Map of mines in the
South Wales Coalfield
1. Because we have a longer history of releasing CO2 than any other country
2. Because there is no proven way of reducing legacy carbon emissions, other than planting tropical trees or conserving tropical forests
3. Because tropical forests play a key role in regulating planetary temperatures
4. Because our carbon-effluence is effectively changing the climate for sub-Saharan communities such as Boré.
5. Because if we are serious about tackling climate change, we need to find new ways to collaborate with these communities to help them conserve their forests
